Description
A sort of sideways nod to Magritte, and art history. 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe', his 1929 iconic painting has stayed with me since my degree studies in Art in the late 70s. I am also playing with the philosopher Descartes "Je pense, donc je suis/Cogito ergo sum" (1637), I think therefore I am and also the 'fact' that goldfish have notoriously poor memory.
This artwork is a 6-colour reduction linocut print on 250 gsm satin white Somerset paper on a sheet size of 760 x 560 mm with an approximate image size of 540 x470 mm and a limited edition of 6.
P.S. No goldfish were harmed or even bribed during the making of this piece.

Merseyside, United KingdomOriginally, I trained as, practiced and taught graphic design, in 2017 I turned to printmaking as a main practice. I concentrated on linocut initially, predominantly making reduction prints. Recently, I returned to college for an adult learning printmaking course and was introduced to TetraPak®, drypoint, aquatint and other intaglio processes. This has expanded my outlook to new possibilities and approaches.
