Geldeston, Norfolk 08.01 Mike Page
Claire Cansick
£500
Description
Painting of a flooded landscape personal to me as an area near where I live. Reported in a local newspaper, the source photo was taken by drone enthusiast Mike Page.
Mike granted me permission to paint from his image as part of my climate project in 2022, titled You And I Are Earth.
The project ran for the entire year and resulted in 46 paintings of extreme weather disasters, painted with an intention to record an overview of the reportage of climate change, worldwide. It was exhibited in 2023 at Firstsite Gallery and Museum in Essex.
Geldeston is 30 miles from where I live and somewhere I know well. It was important to include news of the effects of climate change on my immediate vicinity, as much as it was for the rest of the world.
The painting is oil on a braced wood panel, with clean, natural wood edges, ready to hang.

Norfolk, United KingdomClaire Cansick
Norfolk, United KingdomMy work embraces the shadow side of life, embodying themes of self, non self, and a deep concern for the state of the natural world. I predominantly use oil to interpret landscapes and seascapes with a tight four colour palette, which shifts slowly over time.
