The Three Marks of Existence
Claire Cansick
£3,000
Description
Painted for exhibition in Celebration & Compassion at Chappel Galleries in Essex. It was requested by the curator to send a painting which referred to the title; my most spiritual experience is being at one with nature while floating in the sea. My mind rests in the moment, maybe it is the cold or the perilous waves which keeps it there and I'm at my happiest. It is very fashionable at the moment to cold water swim, I've been doing it since I was a child and this painting is a celebration of the moment and my experience of the natural phenomenon. Painted over three canvases to extend the horizon as far as I can and to show the curve of the wave and earth. Title refers to the buddhist concept of impermanence.
Painted in oil, across three canvases, professionally stretched.

Norfolk, United KingdomMy work embraces the shadow side of life, embodying themes of self, non self, and a deep concern for the state of the natural world. I predominantly use oil to interpret landscapes and seascapes with a tight four colour palette, which shifts slowly over time.
