Description
My painting now takes on amorphous identities, using veils as metaphors, employing stretched silk as my medium on which I then apply the paint, I want the finished pieces to reveal to the viewer a little of my internal dialogue; paintings that highlight the quiet observations I find as I excavate past events and memory, these memory paintings combine with the things in my current environment to create a new language, reclaiming an authentic voice through my painting.
Since 2020, I have begun to explore new directions. My paintings are ambiguous of organic objects in states of metamorphoses using veils in my Voile Series. This crossing between abstract and figurative echoes many of the feelings I experience.
Employing slow painting techniques with studio and still-life objects and allowing time to play a part in the making of these works. Painting over older paintings, using these as the starting point for new routes, returning to recurring motifs that may hold memories and elements of past trauma.
