Description

This piece captures the shimmering light that dances on the walls of a home, creating a sense of comfort and safety.

It invites us to look beyond the physical space...as the light becomes a gateway to the imagination.

Through the window of our thoughts,

the house becomes more than just a structure...

it holds memories of past suns and lived experiences.

A house is not an inert box; it is a space for dreaming, a shelter for ideas.

It’s where we retreat to think, to imagine, and to create.

In this way, the home spins its own worlds within worlds, blurring the lines between the everyday and the imagined.

This painting was selected as the winner of the Visual Artists Association Art100 International Competition! This award celebrates “the 100 most outstanding and visionary artists recognised this year” selected for their creativity, originality, and impact, and representing “the very best in contemporary art today.”

This piece comes unframed. (There is no 'correct' orientation - turn it, choose the orientation you like best and then hang it on your wall)

About the artist

Carol Burns

Wiltshire, United Kingdom

I’m an award-winning abstract artist drawn to the emotional and narrative layers that shape who we are. My work begins with a concept or feeling and evolves through intuitive mark-making, paint, and collage. I explore how storytelling, both internal and shared, helps us make sense of ourselves and the world around us.
