I am a visual artist and freelance artist educator from Leeds, dividing my time creating and exhibiting artwork whilst facilitating art workshops and demonstrations across the Yorkshire region. My practice, whether it be creating my artwork or demonstrating painting to an art group, results in a positive symbiosis.
My artwork is the investigation and response to the natural world around me. I absorb the complexities of line, texture, shape and colour in my paintings, visually debating each element's dominance. Whilst studying my BA Hons in Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Metropolitan University in the 1990's, I majored in printmaking, which ignited my passion for a mixed media approach to painting.
The North Yorkshire National Park is a complete inspiration for my art practice and I strive to capture my interpretation of it. In my Leeds locality, a bird reserve can do the same for creating colourful and atmospheric pieces.
